1. Take as much time as is needed to pick your tailor.

The are a number of tailors are out there, near the Star Ferry Terminal in TST, Entrance of Harbour City, Chung King Mansion, Far East Mansion. They say “Want a tailored suit?"

The business style has been forceful and the fabrics of textures didn't match some people's expectations. there is a chance of being ripped-off.

Take your time and glance around when buying a tailor made item.

2. Making a deal

Hong Kong has a fleet of tailors and they are good at it. Go for a single shirt you need to be customised or a suits, a pair of jeans and some shirts. Some special offers exist such as buy at 3 shirts or purchase 2 suits.

3. What you might want to buy

Options to be presented to you such as collars, textures, cuttings and styles. There will be lots of options to choose from design magazines, for example, GQ, FHM, and designs by Armani, Hugo Boss or Valentino.

There are lots of selections of materials (fleece, cotton, cloth, wool, polyester) for shirts and suits. Options for certain materials such as wrinkle free are available. Is your job sitting all day / indoors / outdoors / office, consider when you extend your arms fully to grab something far; the shirt sleeves should accommodate for length?

Feel free to bring a magazine with you to the tailor or a suit/shirt that fits you as an example.

4. Get extra fittings

Tailors can make a customized suit in under 24 hours or 12 hours. Go for 2 fittings for a shirt and 4 fittings for a suit.

Check the sewing, is it smooth? Check the lengths of the sleeves/legs? Check the shoulders?

Do they fit? Is it wide or tight?

Every adjustment is useful for a decent suit, dress or shirt.
